A Deskful of Ideas
As some of you will have read I am offering a free agile desk space at my office in Abergavenny town centre.
I am aware that many of us have worked from home over the last 12 months and now want the flexibility of leaving the kitchen table behind for one day and come to a desk that is close to where you live or even on your journey to somewhere else.
Belonging to Your Place
The health of our town centres has been the barometer for our economy as well as how society uses and engages with them. Retail analysts, reviewers, task forces and research institutions have placed our town centres under the microscope in recent years with Portas, Grimsey, Timpson and other ex-retailers have commented on the state of our High Street. It’s not a one issue or solution approach but a response that needs to meet wider societal and economic needs.
Talking High Streets
Great to be asked from Gemma Collins, NatWest Business Growth Enabler, Cardiff & South East Wales to take part in a roundtable discussion for Business News Wales on the future of rural High Streets in Wales. Good to be alongside Victoria Mann from Nearmenow, Cllr Paul Millar from Pembrokeshire County Council and Dean Powell from Llantrisant Guildhall.
A Community Hub for Llywnhendy
Chris Jones and Roberts Limbrick have just completed for Llanelli Rural Council in partnership with Our Llwynhendy, a vision, plans and drawings that look to provide new community facilities in Llwynhendy. From best practice trips to Ammanford and Brynamman, a local stakeholder workshop through to a number of community consultations, the process was been accessible and inclusive.
It’s About Collaboration - Brand refresh for Chris Jones
It’s been a strange and frightening time for all of us with Covid-19 and arguably no better time for a bit of self-reflection about who we are and what we are contributing to our communities. With over 30 years of experience under our belt we wanted to ensure that our brand and online presence is genuine and reflects our offering, helping us to connect with those looking for advice on place-making.
Places that we’re helping
Whilst our physical presence has had to be limited of late we’ve built on our digital skills with the production of short films, information pack downloads and the use of online surveys and social media. This has helped ensure communities have a say on ideas and proposals and has created networks in readiness for the easing of the effects of Covid-19.
Reaching Out During Covid-19
As lockdown took hold in Wales and stay local was the advice, Chris Jones has kept within its 5 miles staying its home village a few miles south of Abergavenny.
15 Nevill Street – Our Studio
“It’s a great space for meetings with fellow architects, urban designers, place people and clients, with us continuing the creative and studio feel to the room”.
