RTPI Cymru Small Planning Consultancy of the Year 2022

RTPI Cymru Chair Rob Chichester (L) and Chris Jones

The RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence celebrate outstanding plans, projects and people that demonstrate the power of planning. These awards highlight exceptional examples of how planning and planners have a positive impact on our quality of life in creating exceptional places and protecting our environment.

In March 2022, the practice reflected on the opportunity to make a submission to RTPI Cymru after 32 years in the profession.. On the 19th July, the first RTPI Cymru Awards Summer Party was held in the Morgan Arcade, Cardiff. The Chair of RTPI Cymru, Rob Chichester announced Chris Jones Regeneration as the winner of the Small Planning Consultancy of the Year 2022, stating,

Chris Jones is a chartered town planner and place practitioner based in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, with a focus on  making things happen in towns and communities. He has worked for over 30 years on place-making, town centre and    community regeneration and delivering sustainable solutions.
He is currently working on a diverse range of projects across the UK including Place Plans, Strategic Visions and Action  Plans and the delivery of physical projects whether this be town centres, active travel, green infrastructure and more. The practice supports local community activities and has represented planning on a number of Welsh task groups.”

The judging panel said "Chris Jones Regeneration has demonstrated an obvious commitment to putting people first and a passion for place making through meaningful engagement, whilst also maintaining a focus on meeting client needs."

Commenting on the Award, Chris said,

"I am so pleased to have been awarded the Small Planning Consultancy of the Year from RTPI Cymru.  Its great to see the RTPI recognise smaller practices as it makes you feel valued, provides a moment for you to reflect on how you positively impact on communities and shines a spotlight on the planning profession.  Thanks to everyone that has collaborated alongside me over the years, and to those towns and communities that have trusted me to improve their well-being through positive planning and place-making!”

The silver jubilee cup will be awarded to the project deemed the most outstanding of all the winning projects.

Thanks to all of our clients, collaborators and family who have supported us over the last 9 years. :)
