Reaching Out During Covid-19

As lockdown took hold in Wales and stay local was the advice, Chris Jones has kept within its 5 miles staying its home village a few miles south of Abergavenny.  During this time Chris has helped community life in a number of ways. He has supported and sponsored “Going the Goytre Miles” community lockdown awards which has thanked a long list of local people that have picked up shopping and prescriptions for vulnerable people, collected for the local food bank, given away free pie and chips to elderly people through to local businesses that have gone the extra mile.

To keep the community together, Chris also helped the inaugural Goytre Scarecrow competition which saw over 75 entries across the village. It got people exploring their village safely, an opportunity to be creative and have some fun.  It is hoped that this will become an annual event.

Finally, Chris has been a hub for local beer collection with Raglan’s Untapped brewery dropping off cases and mini-pins at a single pick up point.  This has helped the brewery as keg sales have dropped off and bottling the way to sustain the business. Untapped have seen new customers sample their beers and hope they will continue to support them things get back to some normality in the future.
