About me

I help create sustainable change that has people at its heart

I’m a chartered town planner with more than 35 years of experience working in economic development, place-making, town centre-led development, strategy, evaluation and rural development programmes. I focus on sustainable regeneration and making things happen.

I’ve led place-making projects from both the client and consultant side. Projects include Caldicot’s Cross destination space, Durham’s Heart of the City public realm scheme, Blaenau Ffestiniog’s regeneration scheme, enhancement of the Brewery Yard in Abergavenny and the regeneration of Chepstow’s High Street.

I’ve also worked on master plans and place-led studies across the United Kingdom. Places where I’ve worked include Bridgend, Cinderford, Flintshire, Holyhead, Llanelli, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Northumberland, Wrexham, Scottish Borders and South Oxfordshire.

My happy place

The place I call home is made complete by my wife Miranda, our three daughters, two dogs and one tortoise. When I’m not running the girls around as ‘Dad’s Taxi’, I enjoy a pint in our local pub after a walk in the glorious Bannau Brycheiniog, which we’re lucky to have on our doorstep. I also love having a kitchen full of friends while cooking with a glass in hand.

My values, how I work and what inspires me

Collaboration

I love to work alongside like-minded people. It gives me energy and feeds the passion I have for my work.

Well-being

I’m guided by both the well-being of people who are alive now and that of future generations.

Kindness

I do all I can to have empathy and ensure we’re part of a society that promotes kindness to all.

Responsibility

I respect the responsibility entrusted to me to help shape the future of a place or community.

Genuine

My character is open, enthusiastic and sincere. I welcome new ideas and am active in my role creating and managing change.
